frequently asked questions

Heel spurs are small bony growths that usually don't cause pain because they are cushioned by surrounding tissue. Most heel pain is actually due to plantar fasciitis, not the spur itself. An X-ray may show a spur, but it's rarely the true source of discomfort.

No, plantar fasciitis actually causes heel spurs. When the plantar fascia is inflamed, it pulls on the heel, leading to calcium buildup and spur formation. Heel spurs develop as a response to injury rather than being the root cause of plantar fasciitis or heel pain.

Surgery is rarely needed. Most heel pain is caused by plantar fasciitis, not the heel spur. Removing the spur won't relieve pain if plantar fasciitis remains untreated. Conservative treatments like stretching, orthotics, and physical therapy are usually effective in managing pain without surgical intervention.

Slippers offer little stability, increasing the risk of slips and falls. They lack proper support, leading to foot, joint, and muscle pain. Poor posture and long-term foot issues like plantar fasciitis can develop. Additionally, they can be hazardous for individuals with diabetic or neuropathic foot conditions.

Choose shoes with arch support, cushioned soles, and a secure fit to prevent strain. Avoid flat soles and opt for contoured insoles. Ensure they provide stability, protect your feet, and support posture. For flip-flops, pick ones with structured soles and slight heel curves for better comfort.

Healthy feet are essential for exercise and mobility. Foot pain or instability can hinder workouts, leading to injuries. Proper footwear, foot care, and addressing issues like plantar fasciitis ensure comfort, stability, and long-term success in weight loss efforts. Strong, pain-free feet support an active lifestyle.
